On monday I will have completed my second year at college. Yeah! Although the title of this post is supposed to be sarcastic, I do have some things on my mind....
- Realize you are not the end all, next best thing... Ask questions. Sit at your professors/pastor/parents feet and pick their brain. If there is one thing I learned so far in college, is that I don't know anything! Just when I think I have my worldview figured out, a professor suggest a book that takes me on a ride.
- READ. Nothing substitutes engaging your brain with a good book. TV, facebook, sports DOESN'T compare to the wealth that is in books like Man's Search for Meaning and Calvin's Institutes
- Cynicism doesn't help anything. Whether your cynical about politics or the church... Cynics never change anything. They are that annoying voice in the background.
- Don't be afraid to have that frustrating conversation. Whether it's a theological conversation or a boundaries talk with a close friend. Many people today are refusing to just TALK about issues because it's just makes them angry. This is scary. It's okay if someone says you are wrong. Embrace it. Speak with conviction and don't be afraid to say you are certain of something even if it is not tolerant.
^ what I have been learning....
