It seems normative today to be encouraged not speak what you truly believe. And if you have deep convictions, to not be so bold about them.
Don't people look down or ridicule those who seem so confident in __________?!
You receive messages all day long:
Don't offend. Don't claim to know the way. Don't be "that guy."
Enough with this garbage. Tolerance is so misunderstood.
Where is the man or woman who says, "One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple" Psalm 27:4
Where is the person who says, "As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
3 My tears have been my food
day and night,
while men say to me all day long,
"Where is your God?"
Where is that person? Why is there such a disconnect with the language found in the Bible and our everyday lives?
Why do I continually settle for things such as food or drink or sports when the very person of God is offering himself to me?
Listen to this:
Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased. - C.S Lewis
